Our teams from both Child and Parent Centres, alon Our teams from both Child and Parent Centres, alongside our host school Wilson Park Primary School, recently came together for a powerful day of collaboration and professional learning focused on trauma-informed practice.

In the morning, Parenting Ways facilitated the Game Architect Game, helping us explore how trauma, positive experiences, and tolerable stress shape brain development, especially in the first 8 years of life. A key takeaway was the impact of balance: when children experience high levels of trauma, even small challenges can become overwhelming. But when positive experiences, like connected parenting and strong social supports are present, they can help buffer and make difficult experiences more manageable.

We then had the Department of Education Psychologist team lead their pilot program, Creating Emotional Safety for Children. This session deepened our understanding of how we can create safe, supportive environments where children feel seen, secure, and ready to learn.

It was incredibly inspiring to be in a room full of people who fiercely and passionately care about the wellbeing of the children and families they support every day 💛

As the seasons shift, we can feel ourselves in the As the seasons shift, we can feel ourselves in the middle of Djeran.

Cooler mornings, dewy grass, and a sense of calm as the hot summer days begin to fade to distant memory. It’s a season of transition, where the land slows, colours soften, and we’re invited to do the same.

Traditionally, this is a time for reflection, connection, and gentle movement. It reminds us to check in with ourselves and each other, to nurture wellbeing, and to embrace the quieter moments.

We honour the wisdom of the Noongar seasons and the deep connection between land, culture, and wellbeing. Yallo's play in the parks are still happening, they run from Ferndale Park this season.
